Google Updates Bard Chatbot With ‘Gemini’ AI: All you need to know

Google has just unveiled a major update to its AI chatbot, Bard. This update includes the new "Gemini" AI model, which promises to be more powerful and versatile than ever before.

1. What is Gemini?

Narrator: Gemini is a new AI model developed by Google. It is a large language model, which means that it has been trained on a massive dataset of text and code. Although, the sources used in training the AI has not been disclosed to the public yet.

The training allows Gemini to perform a wide range of tasks, including generating text, translating languages, and writing different kinds of creative content.

2. How does Gemini benefit Bard?

  • With the addition of Gemini, Bard is now able to:

  • Generate more creative and engaging text.

  • Translate languages more accurately.

  • Answer your questions in a more comprehensive and informative way.

  • And complete your requests thoughtfully.

3. How can I try Gemini?

Gemini is currently available in three different sizes:

a. Gemini Ultra, which is the most advanced version of Gemini, suitable for big data centers and research studies. Gemini Ultra is the version that surpasses GPT-4 across benchmarks (as we’ll see soon). It’s designed to run on data centers; in other words, users don’t need to install large files on their computer. While we receive this good news, the model is still under safety review but it will be available early 2024.

Moving to the second size:

b. Gemini Pro, the best model for scaling across a wide range of tasks. Gemini Pro is comparable to GPT-3.5. Optimised for “cost as well as latency.” If costs is a constraint, Pro is probably a better choice than Ultra (just like ChatGPT gave us GPT-3.5 for free, and charges $20/month for GPT-4 advance version).

The good news is; Gemini Pro is already available on Bard. The service is available in 170 countries. Google will be making it more accessible to more countries as we move on.

4. And finally, the third size:

c. Gemini Nano, the most efficient version of Gemini suitable for on-device tasks. Google hasn’t disclosed the parameter count of Ultra and Pro, but we know Nano is divided into two tiers, Nano 1 (1.8B) and Nano 2 (3.25B), for low- and high-memory devices.

Gemini Nano is built-in on Google’s Pixel 8 Pro, which will become an AI-enhanced smartphone all around. This is the beginning of super-Siri mobile assistants.

And of course, Gemini will integrated into Google products like Search, Ads, Chrome and Duet AI,” however, the company didn’t specify the length or when.

5. Conclusion

Google's update to Bard is a significant step forward for AI chatbots. With the addition of Gemini, Bard is now more powerful and versatile than ever before. If you're looking for an AI chatbot, an alternative to ChatGBT, that can help you with a variety of tasks, Bard is a great option.
